What it is

Sub-nanosecond sync
without GNSS.

The Open Time Node WR is a compact, rack-optimised White Rabbit node engineered to deliver sub-nanosecond synchronisation to edge systems. It accepts a White Rabbit input, supports WR, IEEE 1588 PTP and SyncE simultaneously, and outputs stable, traceable reference signals — 10 MHz, 1 PPS and configurable additional outputs — enabling deterministic, ultra-low-jitter clock distribution across critical infrastructure. Housed in a 1RU-compatible chassis (up to three nodes per 1RU), it's the right answer for space-constrained data centres, telecom racks and labs.

Sub-nanosecond White Rabbit sync

The WR protocol is an ultra-precise extension of PTP enhanced with SyncE for deterministic time and frequency transfer — deployed by CERN and designed for metro-scale and long-haul optical networks.

Multi-source failover and monitoring

A built-in monitoring engine continuously evaluates WR, PTP and 1 PPS / 10 MHz inputs, transparently switching between references when a degradation or failure is detected.

Broad protocol support

Distribute White Rabbit, IEEE 1588 PTP, SyncE and standard 10 MHz / 1 PPS outputs.

Four WR ports + ten frequency outputs

Fan out White Rabbit to four downstream nodes, or distribute 10 frequency references to lab and instrumentation gear — all from a single 1 U-compatible unit.

High density — 3 nodes per 1RU

Compact 250 × 105 × 40 mm chassis means three independent WR nodes fit in one rack unit. Under 10 W per node keeps power and cooling manageable at scale.

TimeBeat jitter attenuation

White Rabbit's sub-nanosecond precision demands an equally precise signal-processing layer. The TimeBeat jitter attenuation engine eliminates the last residual noise sources — fibre-path asymmetry, SyncE phase wander and WR protocol jitter — to deliver the cleanest possible clock output to downstream equipment.

Where it works

Sub-nanosecond sync for GNSS-denied environments

Telecom & 5G — RAN and fronthaul

Use case 01

Telecom & 5G — RAN and fronthaul

Precise synchronisation across radio access network infrastructure where PTP alone isn't tight enough. Sub-ns accuracy keeps cell sites and fronthaul in lockstep.

Financial trading — deterministic timestamps

Use case 02

Financial trading — deterministic timestamps

Sub-nanosecond timestamps and MiFID II / CAT compliance without GNSS dependency. When your edge is measured in ticks, White Rabbit is the answer.

Scientific instrumentation

Use case 03

Scientific instrumentation

Lab equipment, DAQ systems and measurement instruments that need clean 10 MHz and 1 PPS references without spurs or phase drift — from fibre, not GNSS.

Data centres — distributed clusters

Use case 04

Data centres — distributed clusters

Consistent, low-jitter timing across distributed computing clusters. Database commits, HPC workloads and quorum systems all benefit from deterministic sync.
