The Open Time Appliance runs the same Timebeat Agent and the same timebeat_opentimecard protocol as the PCIe Open TimeCard — the chassis is a packaged turnkey unit but the configuration surface is identical. The differences are oscillator choice and the typical serving pattern (most OTAs are configured as multicast PTP servers).
